Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was established with the goal to seek the protection of human and environmental health. Headquartered in Washington D.C. The EPA mainly laws down guidelines, laws and standards for the same.


 For instance: -

1. From an enforcement point of view, the EPA imposes fines, sanctions etc.

2. It also regulates the manufacturing and distribution of the usage of chemicals and other pollutants.

3.It conducts programs in order to promote environmental stewardship, energy efficiency, water and air quality, sustainable growth and pollution.

4. However, areas such as food safety, wildlife, wetlands, and nuclear waste do not fall under the ambit of the EPA.

The EPA enforces laws for the protection of the environment and communities such as the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Air Act, National Environmental Education Act etc. It is also responsible for the prevention and detection of environmental laws, setting standards for the handling of hazardous chemicals and monitoring pollution levels.
